A former Police officer has been jailed for 12 months after a jury found him guilty of possessing 5,000 images of child porn.
Michael Mannah, 50, was sentenced to a 12-month prison term, with a non-parole period of four months, by the NSW District Court on Friday. 
The father-of-two from Bossley Park in 's west had pleaded not guilty to the charges - however, a jury found otherwise last September.
Mannah's defence lawyers had claimed that he was looking for adult pornography and the images of minors were unknowingly accessed.

The court heard that a vast majority of the 5,000 images did not depict sexual acts but instead images of minors in sexually provocative poses. 
Police had tracked Mannah's phone and home internet services for five months, revealing that he had 'repeatedly' returned to sites to view the images.

Mannah was a part of the police's Covid response team and guarding the Darling Harbour hotel quarantine sector all while being investigated.
He was stood down by NSW Police once he was charged, later resigning and kontol bernanah found work as a storeperson.
Mannah was sentenced to 12 months jail-time with a non-parole period of four months after 'returning' to websites with child pornography while a police officer
During sentencing Judge Ian Bourke SC stated that Mannah had shown no contrition.  
Mannah must also complete a good behaviour bond with conditions including seeing a Corrective Services NSW psychologist, for suitability in a program for sex offenders. 
He will be eligible for parole in May.
